Ms. Morse is a graduate of the Pacific Mystery School and a certified teacher of Kaballah and Tarot in the Western Mystery Tradition. JudyAnne is a graduate of the Pacific Mystery School\, obtaining a Teaching Certification for Kabbalah and Tarot in the Western Mystery Tradition. She is also a certified Visionary Cosmologist. The second workshop will provide you with a deeper understanding of the Tarot by focusing on the structure of number and rank of the Tarot cards and their elemental association. The third workshop will focus on the importance of number and element in Tarot. Specifically\, the focus will be on the Minor Arcana and its relationship to each of the Four Worlds of the Kabbalah and the Tarot suits. And finally\, she will focus on the Court cards recognizing that they are complex and directly connected to number (rank) and are elemental guides for the worlds of Fire\, Water\, Air/Wind\, and Earth. \nBecause of the integrative nature of this Workshop\, we strongly recommend that you attend all sessions; however\, in an effort to accommodate varying interests\, it will be available as singular sessions as well. This is always a popular program\, so sign up! \nCost of the workshop is $120 for members and $140 for non-members. Individual sessions are $35 each for members\, and $40 each for non-members. SUMMARY:JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2025 BOOK CLUB: "The New Polytheism"
DESCRIPTION:January 12\, January 26\,\nFebruary 9\,February 23\n4:00 pm – 530 pm \nVia Zoom \nWe hope you can join us starting on January 12\, 2025 when Mary Marx will begin leading us through a discussion of David Miller’s book\, The New Polytheism. David Miller is a well-loved teacher (Syracuse and Pacifica) and widely published author in religion\, myth\, depth psychology\, and literary theory. According to Miller\, monotheism wants everyone’s “explanation systems (e.g.\, theological\, historical\, psychological) under one all-embracing system … a single center that holds things together.” In contrast\, polytheistic thinking frees us from having “to get it all together.” It is Miller’s premise that the “psyche” is polytheistic\, with “multiple potencies\, and structures of meaning and being.” As such\, this approach better matches the plurality of our lived experience. \nAs always\, Book Club is a free program for our members. But\, in order to get the Zoom link\, you need to register. So please scroll below to do so via the RSVP.

SUMMARY:TENTH ANNUAL BAUZA LECTURE - THE SPIRITUAL PARADOX OF ADDICTION: THE CALL FOR THE TRANSCENDENT
DESCRIPTION:March 15\, 2025\, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm EST [The Ides of March]\nAshok Bedi\, M.D.\, Jungian Analyst\n3 CEUs are available\nZoom Only\n \nViewing Party at 1550 Old Henderson Road\, Conference Room (back entrance)\, Columbus\, OH 43220\nAlthough this program is by Zoom\, you have 2 options:\n1. Watch it from home\n2. Watch it in community at the Conference Room at 1550 Old Henderson Road. The cost is the same except that if you join us for the Viewing Party\, we provide snacks\, coffee\, and tea. \nRegardless of where or how you will be joining us\, please scroll below to register. There are 4 ticket options. If you are not currently a member and wish to take advantage of the member registration fee\, you may click here to join. \nA description of the program and information about Dr. Bedi follows. Click on INTERVIEW WITH DR. BEDI to learn a little more. \n \nLast year\, the topic of our Bauza lecture was “Psychedelics & The Dynamics of Transformation: A Jungian View.” It focused on the use of psychedelic drugs in treatment. As a variation on this issue\, we reached out to Dr. Ashok Bedi\, who has written several books on healing\, the most recent of which is the topic of the lecture. This book is addressed to people with addiction issues\, their families and friends\, as well as interested laypeople\, government policy makers\, and treatment professionals. \nAlthough we had originally hoped for this to be in person\, in working with Dr. Bedi and his challenging scheduled\, we decided on a Zoom only platform. Dr. Bedi was trained in India\, Great Britain\, and the United States. He has been a psychiatrist in Milwaukee since 1976 and now practices adult psychotherapy and Jungian psychanalysis. He is interested in the emerging frontiers of spirituality and healing\, and the synapses of the mind\, body\, soul\, and spirit. He is the liaison person for the International Association of the Analytical Psychologists for developing Jungian training programs in India. \nDr. Bedi will be speaking to the issue of the high degree of spiritual drive he has found in individuals with whom he has worked who have dealt with mental illnesses in general and addiction in particular. Carl Jung\, in his counsel to his patient Roland Herrington\, prescribed that he needed a sort of religious or conversion experience to claim his sobriety. In his book\, “The Spiritual Paradox of Addiction\,” Dr. Bedi posits that instead of using addictive behaviors to attain connection with Spirit or the deeper\, higher\, and creative consciousness\, recovering addicts can learn to engage with Spirit directly\, thus making the addictive detours unnecessary. His thoughts and guidance to Spirit are applicable to all of us no matter our mental health\, addictions\, or day-to-day living. \nLearning Objectives\n1. Discuss the dynamics of the spiritual paradox of addiction\n2. Present the Jung – Bill W. dialogue to understand the context of the 12 Steps program\n3. Explore the 12 Steps program from an Eastern and Analytical lens\n4. Explain the anatomy of the experience of connection with the spiritual life\n5. Illustrate the contemplative practice of Mindfulness as a path to the Spirit \nAshok Bedi\, M.D. is a Jungian psychoanalyst and a board-certified psychiatrist. He is a member of the Royal College of psychiatrists of Great Britain\, a diplomat in Psychological Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of England\, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is a Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and a training analyst at the Carl G. Jung Institute of Chicago. His books include In the Eye of the Storm- Staying Centered in Personal and Collective Crisis\, The Spiritual Paradox of Addiction\, Crossing the Healing Zone\, Awaken the Slumbering Goddess: The Latent Code of the Hindu Goddess Archetypes\, Retire Your Family Karma: Decode Your Family Pattern and Find Your Soul Path and Path to the Soul. He is the liaison for the IAAP for developing Jungian training programs in India and travels annually to India to teach\, train the consult with the Jungian Developing groups at several centers in India including Ahmedabad and Mumbai. He leads the annual “A Jungian Encounter with the Soul of India” study group to several centers in India under the auspices of the New York Jung Foundation and the Carl Jung Institute of Chicago. His publications and upcoming programs may be previewed at www.pathtothesoul.com \n

He is an author and produced a podcast about aging with intention called “Stories for the Ages” on NPR. \nJohn’s program will present an overview of some significant recent research on spirituality\, neuro-science\, nature\, and meditation. SUMMARY:SATURDAY CONVERSATIONS: RUSSIAN NUMEROLOGY (See Video Interview with Presenter!)
DESCRIPTION:See Video Interview with presenter Anastasia Svenchenko by clicking here. \nJoin us on June 14\, 2025 from 10 AM to noon for an IN PERSON informative presentation and conversation regarding Russian Numerology presented by Anastasia Svenchenko. The address is 1550 Old Henderson Road\, Conference Room (back of building)\, Columbus\, OH 43220 \nRussian numerology was developed by Russian mathematicians who combined ancient knowledge of Egyptian priests\, Chinese sages\, and Pythagoreans with substantial modern-day research to create a system designed to see not just stagnant numbers\, but their motions\, transitions to other numbers\, creations of new numbers and more. As such\, it is a unique system that allows one to gain valuable insights about individuals\, interpersonal interactions\, and even historical events. \nAnastasia Shevchenko is a Russian born Professional Numerologist with more than 25 years of study and research of individual personalities and compatibility\, and more than 10 years of professional consultations and teaching. At the age of 12\, she discovered a strong interest in Metaphysical Science\, which started with card readings and gradually progressed to the fields of Astrology\, Numerology\, Dream Interpretation\, as well as Tarot cards readings. Along the way\, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Finance in Russia\, and was taking graduate school classes in Clinical Psychology before relocating to America. She continued her education in America and graduated with both her BA in Psychology and her MA in Organizational Management from Ashford University. \nAnastasia is excited to share her life passion for numbers with you. She hopes to make it clear that you don’t need to have years of research or be mathematically inclined in order to benefit from the simple numerical calculations that can provide a wide range of information about human patterns of behavior\, potential choices\, glimpses of past life influences\, and this life’s mission. \nTo better highlight advantages of Russian Numerology and give real life examples\, Anastasia will analyze the profiles of Carl Jung\, as well as few other well-known psychologists. If you would like to learn more about yourself and how you compare to these psychologists\, please bring with you a completed copy of the numerology worksheet that you will receive when you RSVP below. \nSaturday Conversations are always free but donations are always welcome. Just click here to donate!  Kindly RSVP below if you plan to attend. This will help us prepare the space and the environment to fully support you. This will also enable us to send you in advance the numerology worksheet. Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:August 16\, 2026\, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EST\n1550 OLD HENDERSON ROAD\, COLUMBUS\, OH 43220\, NORTH ENTRANCE (back of building)\nIn Person Only \n \nOur Saturday Conversations continue to grow. On Saturday\, August 16th we have the great pleasure of having coffee and conversation with Mike Schaeffer (long time JACO member\, spouse\, father\, grandfather\, computer modeling in the construction industry and\, oh yes\, a psychotherapist). Mike says it best: \n Coffee and conversation is about creating a space for a more ‘subjective’ experience and Jungian ideas. Our intent is to begin with a seed topic to get the conversation going and then to remain open to the path that develops from there. This space will be about engaging in the process of individuation in each of the participants and in the group as a whole…. There is a time as we age when our energy shifts from accumulating knowledge to expressing the Self. So let’s engage in Self expression! \nAlthough free\, it is immensely helpful to us if you RSVP so we have enough coffee and snacks as well as prepare the space to receive you. Thank you! \nPlease scroll below to RSVP.

SUMMARY:Book Club Discussion: “Moving Toward the Millionth Circle” (Rescheduled to September 7)
DESCRIPTION:SEPTEMBER 7\, 2025 and every 2 weeks thereafter until done. Zoom only. \nThis has been a time of so much energy with people having so many plans and activities that we have decided to postpone Book Club until the end of summer. So\, instead of starting with our next book on July 6\, we are waiting until September 7\, 2025. So\, enjoy the summer and join us on September 7th as we explore “Moving Toward the Millionth Circle” with Board member and licensed art therapist Maggi Colwell. \nA link will be sent out prior to the September Book Club. \nStarting September 7\, 2025\, Maggi Colwell will be leading us in a discussion of Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Book\, “Moving Toward the Millionth Circle”; a spiritual book for women that serves as a practical and poetic call to action\, inspiring woman and others to follow a path with soul.  The premise of the book is that it is through the process of a growing number of people changing their perceptions and behaviors that a new era will begin.  Those in these circles feed the activism by strengthening each other and\, in turn\, the movement as a whole. \nThe Book Club Discussion series is always free\, but you do need to register in order that we can send you the link.  Please scroll below to register (RSVP).

SUMMARY:Individuation and Narcissism: The Psychology of Self in Jung and Kohut\, Presented by Dr. James Fidelibus
DESCRIPTION:ZOOM ONLY\n7 SESSIONS\nFRIDAYS FROM 9 am to 11 am\nDates: 9/12; 9/26; 10/10; 10/24; 11/7; 11/21; 12/5\n2 CEUs per session\nScroll below to register for tuition and CEU credit \nTo see interview with Dr. Fidelibus about the seminar click here. \nCourse Description \nEarly development is adversely affected by disruptions in the empathic attunement on the part of caregivers. A lack of adequate of parental mirroring creates a tendency toward inflationary or deflationary self-experience. This\, in turn\, can result in defensive patterns and resistance to depth work. Moving toward healthier patterns requires confrontation with the shadow and an encounter with the Self as the transpersonal center of meaning. In approaching this work\, Jungian analyst\, Mario Jacoby\, incorporates insights from Heinz Kohut’s Self-Psychology along with standard Jungian practice. He offers reflections on clinical material that illustrate how patients can be supported through the analytic process by emphasizing empathic attunement in addition to working with complexes and the archetypal dimensions of the psyche. The analyst must learn to serve\, in balance with standard Jungian practices\, as an attuned\, empathetic self-object in helping to stabilize the patient’s ego. We hope this explanation helps guide you through the payment process. \nWe are very excited that this year’s Conference will focus on the outer world of AI and how it impacts us on our inner world journey. \nFor the past twenty-five years\, Glen Slater\, Ph.D. has been a member of the core faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute\, where he is currently the Associate Chair of its Jungian and Archetypal Psychology Program. He is the author of Jung vs Borg: Finding the Deeply Human in a Posthuman Age (2024)\, editor of the third volume of James Hillman’s Uniform Edition\, Senex and Puer (2005)\, co-editor of the essay collection\, Varieties of Mythic Experience (2007). He has also written numerous articles and book chapters for Jungian publications.  His research and writing interests concern Jung and film\, the psychology of religion\, and depth psychology and technology. \nDr. Slater will present a morning lecture titled “Jung\, AI and Psychological Integrity” followed by an afternoon workshop titled “Jung’s Myth of Consciousness in the Digital Age.”  The conference qualifies for 5.5 continuing education units. \nThere will be a one-hour lunch break\, and we have access to both a large refrigerator as well as a microwave so please feel free to bring a lunch (with your name on it).  There are also lunch places in the area. \nLecture: Jung\, AI and Psychological Integrity.\nDescription: In my recent book\, Jung vs Borg: Finding the Deeply Human in a Posthuman Age\, I discuss how the integrity of the human psyche is colliding with our adaptation to digital technology. I contend that a collapse of inner ecology has begun to follow that of outer ecology. This collapse concerns radical changes to human thought processes and a detrimental separation from the deeper ground of existence. Alongside the many benefits of information technologies and online life\, a number of psycho-social problems are implicated in this underlying fragmentation. These problems include an omnipresence of disinformation\, blurring lines between the actual and the virtual\, and epidemics of anxiety\, depression and loneliness. Even in the face of such trends\, many futurists are advocating for a merger of human and artificial intelligence.  In this presentation I will turn to C. G. Jung’s understanding of archetypal patterns and psychodynamics to engage these matters. A focus will be on the contrast between the integrative experiences Jung emphasized and the dissociative style of consciousness that pervades today’s digital lifestyle. We will thereby explore the way Jung’s psychology offers a critical counterpoint to the preoccupation with the present and future technologies. \nWorkshop: Jung’s Myth of Consciousness in the Digital Age\nDescription: C.G. Jung understood that psychological wellbeing rests on having a story or “myth” that conveys the meaning and purpose of existence. Along these lines\, both Jung and his followers have contended that “the creation of consciousness” (Edinger) is a fitting myth for our time\, joining the personal and collective significance of the individuation process. At this cultural-historical juncture\, as information expands and wisdom contracts\, this vision of making the unconscious more conscious may have found its ultimate purpose. With the meeting of information technology and biotechnology\, the power to reshape the world is turning into the power to reshape ourselves. But can we wield this power in conscious ways\, or will we reengineer human nature before we understand it? This workshop will consider our habits of mind in the digital age\, the differences between consciousness and intelligence\, the re-enchantment of ways of knowing\, and the redemptive prospect of a more co-creative way forward—one that taps the wisdom of the psyche and accounts for the fullness and depth of our humanity. \nMaggi Colwell\, JACO Board Member and Art Therapist\, interviewed Dr. Slater about the program he will be presenting. To see the interview\, click here. \nTo learn more about Dr. Slater and his thought process\, you may want to look into his recent book\, “Jung vs. Borg:  Finding the Deeply Human in a Posthuman Age.”[1]  In addition\, we are including here links to 4 articles\n1. Jung and the Posthumans\n2. Re-Sink the Titanic\n3. J Analytical Psychology – 2024 – Slattery – Slater Glen Jung vs Borg Finding the Deeply Human in a Posthuman Age \n4. A New Global Crisis \nIn critiquing Dr. Slater’s book\, Donald Kalshed stated: “Many years ago C. G. Jung warned us that without an ‘imagination for evil’ we modern human beings were in danger of becoming instruments of the very evil we abhor. Glen Slater’s brilliant and passionate analysis of online culture and its insidious seductions of hyperreality\, virtual companions\, and cyber presences—all run by artificial intelligence—opens up that imagination in ways that are both terrifying and illuminating. To become conscious of these dehumanizing forces in our midst and how to combat their dissociative effects on the inner life of the soul should be a major focus of all depth psychological training in the 21st century. I cannot emphasize strongly enough the importance of this book.” \n[1] For Star Trek fans\, you may recall the infamous Borg—a species that converted humans into cyborgs and the famous line\, “You will be assimilated.” \nIf you wish to become a member to receive a discounted registration fee\, you may join by clicking here. \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:2026 Tarot Workshops
DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to announce that\, for the fourth year\, JudyAnne Morse will be back with us in 2026 to explore the world of Tarot. \nWhile Jung did not write specifically about Tarot\, he did recommend working with archetypes.  As such\, the Tarot can be seen as a path that leads us through the process of individuation of which Jung spoke i.e.\, a process of becoming aware of one’s self\, one’s make-up\, and the way to discover one’s true inner self.  Tarot\, when used as a sacred oracle and a focus for meditation and spiritual work\, becomes a perfect tool to assist us in the individuation process. \n2026 is the Year of the Wheel of Fortune (10).  It is also governed by the Magician (1). As archetypes\, the Wheel is fate/destiny; the Magician is the animus (masculine energy)/trickster.  As symbols\, the Wheel reflects cycles and change; the Magician reflects magic and power. \n JudyAnne will be presenting 3 workshops on Zoom: \n\nJanuary 6\, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.  Annual Draw (all levels).  This workshop will focus on what it means to say that 2026 is a year governed by the Wheel of Fortune and the Magician.  JudyAnne will then guide the participants through a draw for each month with a focused question for each month.\n\n2. January 20\, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.  Introduction to Tarot 101 (beginner level).  This workshop will focus on the basic structure of a Tarot deck including the concepts of Major and Minor Arcana (including the Court cards)\, the suits\, imagery\, and basic terminology.  Participants will also find their Soul and Personality cards as well as go through a basic reading. \n3. February 3\, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.  Introduction to Kabbalah and Tarot (intermediate level).  This workshop is designed for people with a good understanding of Tarot and are curious about how it is connected to Kaballah.  The class will include a discussion of some of the basic concepts of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and how these relate to Tarot.  You do not need to have a Kabbalistic Tarot deck to attend this program.  However\, if you are interested\, JudyAnne’s favorite Kabbalistic Tarot deck is “Tarot of the Spirit” by Pamela Eakins. \nAll workshops also include pdf documents packed with images and information.  And\, if you have ever attended one of JudyAnne’s classes\, you know just how valuable these documents are. \nJudyAnne is a graduate of the Pacific Mystery School\, a certified teacher of Kabbalah and Tarot in the Western Mystery School\, and a published poet.  In addition\, she has recently published an oracle deck\, “The Remembering Tree” (available on MakePlayingCards.com)\, a guidebook to the deck\, “The Remembering Tree Oracle\, Awakening the Hidden Paths of the Tree of Life\,” and a book\, “The Living Tree of Life:  From Crown to Kingdom\, A Kabbalistic Journey of Contemplative Prayer” (both available on Amazon). \nPlease scroll below to register – there are two registration fees for each of the 3 workshops: one for members and one for non-members. Take your time to select A. the date(s) you wish to attend and B. the proper category – Member or NonMember.

SUMMARY:JACO Book Club: Erin Morgenstern’s "The Night Circus"
DESCRIPTION:Starting January 11\, 2026\n4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. EST \nZoom Only \nWhat a great way to start off the New Year.  Mike Schaefer introduces the book he wants to explore this way—As our world seems awash in shallowness\, heaviness\, and dissociation\, we often struggle to find ways to respond when things become so one-sided.  Something is missing\, hidden in the shadows cast by the prevalent forces at work.  This year\, JACO will be exploring the notion of deep playful engagement.  This may be the balm we need to heal this lopsidedness.  In this spirit\, our next book club selection is Erin Morgenstern’s “The Night Circus”; a book that is both playful and deep and a wonderful catalyst for engagement for a community like ours. \nPlease scroll below to register\, and remember\, Book Club is always free.

SUMMARY:Rescheduled from Feb 7 to Feb 21 - Saturday Conversations: The Four Faces of the Jung Association
DESCRIPTION:Saturday February 21\n10 am to noon\nIn-Person Only \nOur February 21st Saturday Conversation\, the 4 Faces of Jung\, has a lot of energy.  We have again needed to move the location.  Please join us at the Library at First Community\, 1320 Cambridge Blvd.  With all of the changes (date and location)\, it should be a great event!  Please join us for coffee\, snacks\, and good conversation! \nThis is a free program\, but we would appreciate it if you would RSVP below so we can plan accordingly.  \nThe Jung Association of Central Ohio presents many faces to our public. We engage with depth psychology and Jungian theory\, support artistic expression and appreciation\, and explore archetypal themes in dreams\, film\, and literature. We know that engaging Jung’s thought can help make sense of an increasingly chaotic world\, and engaging with each other facilitates each individual’s path toward meaning and wholeness. Our members have benefitted from the deepened experience of self that emerges during the individuation process. So where do we find ourselves now and what are our next steps? \nTo explore this we invite all members\, and especially Newcomers. No background in Jungian theory is needed. Together\, we will participate in a facilitated exploration of the many faces of the Jung Association. We will use Jung’s four functions—thinking\, feeling\, sensing\, and intuition—as a framework for understanding and communicating who we are becoming and the direction we are traveling. \n  \n

Link will be emailed. \n“What if peace is not merely a simple\, uncomplicated state\, but a richly layered and living archetype moving through\, and expressing itself differently across the personal and collective psyche?” \nPlease join us on March 14\, 2026\, to explore this question posed by Michelle Rivera-Clonch\, a peace-centered depth psychologist whose career spans leadership roles in higher education\, the professoriate\, and the non-profit sector.  Her recent publications include the 2023 Routledge book “A Depth Psychological Study of the Peace Symbol: Jung\, Culture & Politics.” \nDr. Rivera-Clonch will help us explore peace as a multifaceted psychological process—one shaped by archetype\, shadow\, symbol\, and Kairos. By tracing conditions that prompt peace and defenses that frustrate it\, we will seek to discover the mythic pattern that underlies the human longing for peacetime. \nThis program promises to touch each of us in a very special way as we move through these turbulent times.

SUMMARY:BOOK CLUB: Man & His Symbols\, The Process of Individuation
DESCRIPTION:Starting April 26\, 2026 (and every 2 weeks thereafter until done)\n \n4:00 pm – 5:30 pm\n \nBy Zoom only \nWe will begin our journey of “The Process of Individuation\,” Chapter 3 of Jung’s Book “Man & His Symbols.” There is much to ponder in this chapter and so we will have several “leaders” to take us through Dr. Marie Louise von Franz’s Path to Individuation. \nAs stated in the Introduction of the book\, “Dr. Franz … describes the process by which the conscious and the unconscious within an individual learn to know\, respect\, and accommodate one another. In a certain sense\, this chapter contains not only the crux of the whole book\, but perhaps the essence of Jung’s philosophy of life. Man becomes whole\, integrated\, calm\, fertile\, and happy when (and only when) the process of individuation is complete\, when the conscious and the unconscious have learned to live at peace and to complement one another.” Man & His Symbols\, p.14. \nBook Club is always free but you need to register so that we can send you the link.
