SUMMARY:Living More Fully in the Shadow of Mortality - Presented by Dr. James Hollis (Friday Night Lecture)
DESCRIPTION:See the flier for complete pricing details and explanation of the dollar range. \nFlier for Program (which includes biographical information for Dr. Hollis):  Hollis Bollingen Program 2019 \nScroll down beyond the following program description to register for the program. Special note: navigate to Friday night lecture and Saturday workshop combined (discounted) ticket if registering for both days – which we hope you’ll be able to do! For CEU credit\,  look for the CEU ticket for non-members ($15) and the CEU RSVP for Members ($-0-). Thank you. \nFriday Night Lecture: Jung observed that “Life is a short pause between two great mysteries.” That fact is not in dispute; what matters then\, is how we live that pause. E. M. Forster observed that the two who could most illumine us\, the corpse and the baby\, are not talking. Given that mortality frames our journey\, how might we live it more fully\, not defined by fear\, morbidity\, and denial? What attitudes and practices allow us to live more fully? And what psychological maturation bring us to experience this short pause as rich with meaning?

SUMMARY:Consciousness and the Perils of Polarization\, presented by Richard J. Sweeney\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:Sweeney Consciousness and the Perils of Polarization Program Flier\nPurchase tickets by scrolling down to Tickets \nLate in life C.G. Jung expressed his belief that the sole purpose of human existence is “to create more and more consciousness” so as “to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.” In this program we will examine the nature and importance of consciousness\, particularly in today’s world. To this end\, we will consider the development and degrees of consciousness and explore frequent obstacles to consciousness\, including narcissistic tendencies . We will probe Jung’s view that all psychological symptoms and neuroses derive from conflict or polarization within the psyche. This will lead to a reflection upon social consciousness and the problem of polarization within the collective psyche today. Our aim will be to suggest how the development of consciousness is both a personal and a societal enterprise. The presentation will combine lecture with the use of case examples\, dream material\, recent research and some interaction with participants \n  \n

SUMMARY:Fearless Falling Program and Demonstration Presented by Mike Grigsby\, Fearless Falling Program Creator
DESCRIPTION:The “falling epidemic” sends over 60\,000 adults to the ER every week\, and over 400 of them die as a result of their fall. If you are 65 or over\, you have a 1 in 3 chance of having an accidental fall this year. But\, there are positive actions you can take to greatly reduce your chances of serious injury from falling. These involve improving yourself\, your environment\, and your attitude.            \nIn the presentation\, Mike Grigsby\, Fearless Falling program creator\, will teach actual falling techniques by demonstrating how they work on a small gym mat. He will answer questions about falling safely and how to handle different situations. \nIn the last seven years\, Mike has taught hundreds of elders how to fall safely. He regularly teaches Fearless Falling classes at the Whetstone Community Center in Clintonville and at the Worthington Griswold Center\, and is the Head Instructor of the Shuai Chiao Kungfu Club at The Ohio State University. \nThis program is offered as part of the Aging with Intention series\, which is an on-going collaborative effort of the FCC Older Adult Ministry\, the Burkhart Center\, and the C.G. Jung Association of Central Ohio to build community\, to educate\, and to inspire\, focusing on issues that pertain to aging. Registration is encouraged\, but is not essential. This program is offered free of charge. A free-will offering will be invited. Register at www.theburkhartcenter.org/classes

SUMMARY:Possibilities\, Pilgrimage and Poignancy: The Journey of The Later Life Years - Presented by John Schuster
DESCRIPTION:Many psychologists\, Carl Jung chief among them\, and other professionals like spiritual directors and gerontologists\, have addressed the psychology of the later-life years. The challenges and opportunities of life beyond the career-centric/family-upbringing years are addressed differently by everyone of us\, and there are a host of creative ways to live with vitality and purpose later-in-life. Both the “best” and the “boomer” generations find their journeys laden with new joys and burdens and\, above all\, opportunities for growth and self-expression that could not present themselves in the busyness of the mid-life years. These joys and burdens comprise the pilgrimage possibilities of the later-life years and will be the topic of this presentation.  jung schuster flier\nSCROLL BELOW TO BUY TICKET FOR THIS EVENT
