SUMMARY:POSTPONED FROM JANUARY 24 TO APRIL 24 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER: Waking Up and Cleaning Up - Our Spiritual Development and the Role of our Shadow Self
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED FROM JANUARY 24 TO APRIL 18\nFirst Community’s Spiritual Life & Learning Center has invited us to be a part of their Contemplative Series.  Hope you can join Seth Stearns from FC and Catherine Ballard from JACO as they explore Ken Wilber’s model of spiritual development and the interplay with Jungian thought. \nIn Wilber’s model of spiritual development (Waking Up) we also look at why facing our shadow self is so important to our spiritual development (Cleaning Up).  We are excited to be partnering with the Jung Association of Central Ohio for this Contemplative Series event. \nWe will have refreshments\, but please feel free to bring your preferred snack and covered beverage. A notebook\, pen\, inquiring mind and open heart are also encouraged. \nThis is a part of our Contemplative Series at SLLC\, developed around The Tree of Contemplative Practices. Each month we will meet to discuss and ponder each branch. And each month will be a different experience as we explore different ways of developing our individual spirituality more deeply. We invite you to join us for the entire series\, or individual events as your schedule allows. \nFor more information or to register to join us for the upcoming sessions please click HERE. First Community South is located at 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Columbus 43212. We look forward to seeing you!

SUMMARY:BOOK CLUB: Man & His Symbols\, The Process of Individuation
DESCRIPTION:Starting April 26\, 2026 (and every 2 weeks thereafter until done)\n \n4:00 pm – 5:30 pm\n \nBy Zoom only \nWe will begin our journey of “The Process of Individuation\,” Chapter 3 of Jung’s Book “Man & His Symbols.” There is much to ponder in this chapter and so we will have several “leaders” to take us through Dr. Marie Louise von Franz’s Path to Individuation. \nAs stated in the Introduction of the book\, “Dr. Franz … describes the process by which the conscious and the unconscious within an individual learn to know\, respect\, and accommodate one another. In a certain sense\, this chapter contains not only the crux of the whole book\, but perhaps the essence of Jung’s philosophy of life. Man becomes whole\, integrated\, calm\, fertile\, and happy when (and only when) the process of individuation is complete\, when the conscious and the unconscious have learned to live at peace and to complement one another.” Man & His Symbols\, p.14. \nBook Club is always free but you need to register so that we can send you the link. Please scroll below to register (RSVP).

SUMMARY:BOOK CLUB:    WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF INDIVIDUATION
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 10\, 2026\n4:00 pm – 5:30 pm EST\nZoom Only \nBook Club is always free but we need you to register so we can send you the link.  [It will be the same link for all sessions for this Book but we will still send reminders prior to our get togethers.] Scroll below to register (RSVP). \n \nWe are moving on to our second Book Club meeting of Chapter 3 of Jung’s Man & His Symbols.  In our first meeting we talked about what the concept of individuation means; how it is unique to each person and is a process of learning who we each are and how to best live our lives.  On May 10\, we will continue this journey moving to the Section on “The First Approach of the Unconscious” and\, perhaps\, “The Anima:  The Woman Within.”   It all depends on the conversation and where we want to go.  Even if you were not able to join us at the first meeting\, you are still encouraged to join us on May 10.  Although the sections build on each other\, they also stand on their own. Facilitators are Mike Schaefer\, Catherine Ballard and Stephen Weed\, who will rotate their roles. \n  \n
