SUMMARY:A Non-Dual\, Devotional Path: The Psycho-Spiritual\, Jung-friendly Path of David Hawkins - John Schuster with Phil Meeks
DESCRIPTION:“Man cannot stand a meaningless life.”  Carl Jung \nMost of us entertain the questions of transcendence even as we lean into the daily realities of life—making a living\, doing some good in the world\, attending to family and friends. These questions come wrapped in any role we take on: careers\, parenting\, grand-parenting\, citizenry\, and church involvement. \nSuch questions do not have ready-made answers; likewise\, questions such as where might I find a spiritual path that resonates for me? \nOne source of wisdom in exploring these questions is David Hawkins\, whose popular book Power vs. Force\, offers unique insights. For two long term JACO members (bios below) Hawkins’ writings have made major contributions to their inner life.  Hawkins’ works and thinking will guide our conversation together\, which will have a definite spiritual slant and touch on the non-dual perspectives. \nWe hope you can join us for this insightful\, illuminating discussion.\nTHIS IS A FREE PROGRAM\, ON ZOOM. PLEASE EMAIL jungaco@jungcentralohio.org to receive the link\n \nJohn is an author\, coach\, and teacher\, a former JACO board member and co-traveler on the path. He has an MA in Jungian Psychology and his books include one on purpose (Answering Your Call) and one on recontextualize our pasts so we can free escape the negatives and learn what lessons they hold.  He sings\, plays guitar\, gardens and is a grandpa\, and does what he can to help others find that original Self under the acquired self. Phil is a charter member of JACO and early board chair.  He became a clinical social worker after a career as an international executive.   He has been studying Hawkins for the past 10 years. \n

SUMMARY:Some Thoughts on Technology as Shadow by Dr. Doug Tyler
DESCRIPTION:We are sorry but registration for this program has closed. \n“Always when science tries to describe a “simple” life process\, the matter becomes complicated and difficult.” —C.G. Jung \nTechnologies have become “necessary” tools for ego development (for individuals\, companies\, organizations\, or institutions) by mirroring needs and desires in order to feel known and remembered. And very few of us reside outside the realm of this powerful influence. So\, what are we to make of this process by which the ego and its attendant aspirations become drawn into such a powerful archetypal force? We continuously hear about or experience the benefits and the ease of locating information and communicating with others. What is missing\, however\, is a dialogue about technology as shadow. \nThere is no doubt our lives are enhanced by powerful emerging technologies and that these developments reflect a level of influence consistent with archetypal meaning. Unless we become conscious of the shadow working within the uses of our technological wonders\, we will grow increasingly estranged in our relationships with our selves\, each other\, and the psyche. A preoccupation with technology and its effects on consciousness will result in an unconscious undertow of sorts—dragging us out to sea\, into a reckoning with the psyche’s intentions. \nDr. Tyler practices as a Jungian Analyst in Knoxville\, TN. He obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee and his diploma in Analytical Psychology from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts (IRSJA). He is a member of the IRSJA and is currently a training analyst with the Inter-Regional Memphis-Atlanta Seminar. Dr. Tyler has been a practicing psychologist for 25 years in Knoxville and lectures on various Jungian topics\, including: Typology\, the Holy Grail\, the Hero archetype\, the intersection of psychology and theology\, and Merlin as multifaceted archetypal images.
