JACO Book Club: Man and His Symbols – Chapter by Jung

Date: January 7, 2024

Facilitator: Catherine Ballard

Format: Zoom

Man and His Symbols is a foundational book in Jungian psychology, written for a general audience, that explores the unconscious mind through symbols, dreams, and archetypes, serving as a guide to self-understanding and individuation. It was Carl Jung's final work, published posthumously in 1964, and was a collaborative effort with his closest followers to present his complex theories in an accessible way, featuring numerous illustrations from mythology, art, and fairy tales. The book explains how symbols from the unconscious communicate with the conscious mind, offering insights into our "shadow" self and helping us achieve a more complete and balanced life.

JACO Book Club meeting reading Man and His Symbols, focusing on the chapter written by C.G. Jung. Meets every other Sunday, 4:00–5:00 PM.
